I woke up with the chorus in my head. And not because of some uplifting feeling about starting fresh. No, I’m like an injured animal learning to walk again – I don’t understand what’s happened, I’m outfitted with things designed to help and they only hamper, but my instinct tells me all I can do is learn to do something simple (like walk) all over again within these new restrictions…

Taking steps, any steps, are a sign of new life.
Even simple things are hard if you have not done them before.
Do they have to be so painful, though? My mind rebels against the new steps…and it hurts…
It’s hard, but I have a little mantra that helps me through painful times.
I just try to remember that “Pain is weakness leaving the body”
I used to say that when I was working out…
It applies both physically and emotionally!
