Apparently, I don’t want to go to bed ever…
My first InMon Prompt (Epic Naptime) – here goes nothing.
They woke up with the baby at 2:00am, then 3:00am, then 4:00am. That’s when he decided to stay up to start the coffee. What was the use of trying to sleep now?
She laid in bed a few more minutes until guilt pushed her out into the dark living room. It didn’t feel right to sleep while he was up, beginning his day. They would be tired together.
As the day progressed, the baby slept peacefully while the adults looked on in silent shock and no small amount of aggravation.
Her mother showed up around lunchtime with a surprise offer to take their little darling for the afternoon.
“So you two can get some rest, of course,” she said.
They looked at one another and smiled. Yes, rest was exactly what they needed.
Mom left, and they sat still for countless minutes. What were they supposed to do without their baby with them? The house became eerily quiet. They looked at each other in confusion.
“Let’s go lay down,” he suggested. She nodded silently – too tired to speak. They ignored the unwashed laundry, the stack of dishes in the sink, the trash waiting to be taken to the curb. A bomb had gone off in their house about six months before, and in their shell-shock, they no longer saw it or cared.
She looked at him longingly, missing him. In their exhaustion, they forgot to maintain physical closeness, collapsing into bed at night, a quick peck on the cheek – if that.
She began to disrobe, pulling off her grimy pajama pants. How did baby formula get there?
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Getting comfortable,” she replied. “You should, too.”
Naked, they laid down in bed together. Looking into each other’s eyes, she was overwhelmed with desire. She reached for him, stroking his cheek, his neck, his chest. He caught her hand and guided it further. She gripped him firmly in her hand, pulling, stroking. He leaned forward and licked her lips. Parting her lips with his tongue, he tasted the inside of her mouth. Their tongues whirled together in a sensuous dance.
They gripped each other feverishly. No need for further play. They had been ready for this moment for weeks. With little preamble, he rolled her over on to her back, spread her thighs, and entered her in one fluid motion. She raised her hips to meet him. They moved together in a silent dance. Long minutes passed, the groans and moans of passionate but hurried lovemaking filled the room.
They reached their climax together, long shuddering sighs coming from both of them. The smell of sex permeated the room.
As she drifted off to sleep, a smile played on her face. This was the best naptime she’d ever experienced. In fact, it was epic.
Epic naptime!! Lol. I usually only sleep when I nap. Adding a baby alters dynamics in good and bad ways.
I can’t seem to sleep either. Writing is the best medicine in my opinion.
If I don’t sleep tonight, I’m going to be a zombie tomorrow! But here I am, back at my addiction…lol
A situation to which many new parents will relate. ‘Passionate but hurried love making’ fits the bill nicely. And the satisfied sleep afterwards … well!
Exactly….it’s only been a few years since I was in such a position…and I never had a nap that went so well…ha!
Disclaimer: This is not my kind of thing. This is the kind of thing I read with one eye shut.
But I won’t go into the why of all that now.
This is sharp writing. Smooth flow, and just enough detail (such as “how did baby formula get there?”) to make it feel real without ever getting clunky. Nice work.
Welcome to InMon!
Thanks!
Yeah, I know, my topics aren’t for everyone. It was fun to participate, though. Looking forward to the next one!
