2018 Eroticon Online Meet and Greet

John Brownstone was very proud of himself that he got his Eroticon Online Meet and Greet post done before I did. I’ll let that slide this year. The next time we attend together, though, it’s ON! And no, that will likely not be in 2019, sadly.

If you’re not sure what the hell is going on here, let me explain. Before Eroticon each year, all attendees are invited to do an online meet and greet so we can introduce ourselves before arriving. To do this, we answer a few questions.

Before I do, let me say that I am so freaking excited about this year’s Eroticon. Not just because I’m looking forward to the event itself and seeing everyone, but also because John Brownstone will be with me.

Name (and Twitter if you have one)

Kayla Lords — you might hear me called Babygirl. Please call me Kayla. I’m @KaylaLords on Twitter.

What are you most looking forward to about Eroticon 2018?

Lots of things. Getting through Saturday (I’m giving a presentation and sitting on a panel about podcasting) and also seeing everyone. This year I won’t be nearly as nervous as I was last year, so…watch out. A comfortable Kayla is extremely talkative and squees a lot (yes, more than last year). Attending as many sessions as I can — I can’t name which ones because I haven’t plotted out my schedule yet. Making kinky fuckery things with Andrew and Pixie from Kink Craft. Hugging Molly Moore. Meeting people I know very well online but didn’t get to meet last year. So. Many. Things.

Oh yeah, and this is our honeymoon, so I guess kinky fuckery in London should be an answer, too.

We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song.

Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake

I fell in love with Cake during college (late 90s). They’re the kind of group you listen to with the windows rolled down, and I had them on repeat for three years. I always wanted to be the girl in Short Skirt/Long Jacket. And maybe, in some ways, nearly 20 years later, I finally am.

What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?

The first thing I wanted to be was a writer. In second grade, a friend of mine and I wrote books together, bound them with string, and presented them to our class. We would go home after school, come up with new plots, and get together during class the next day to write. Our teacher encouraged us, and as long as we were besties, we wrote together.

Sadly, I gave writing up as impractical (as a career) before I was 10 — I was a very serious child. And I didn’t realize it was an option until I hit my 30s. Now it’s my full time career. Weird how that works sometimes.

Weirdest place you’ve ever gotten up to mischief (define ‘mischief’ however you like…)

It’s not very weird at all, but it is true.

So you know the movie American Pie where that flute player keeps saying, “And one time, at band camp…”? Yeah, well that shit’s true, and band geeks were some of the freakiest kids in my high school when it comes to sex. It wasn’t band camp, but on a long ride back from a football game, when we were all sweaty from doing all the marching band things, I let a guy who would later date my BFF (and by later, I mean three weeks later), finger me on the bus. It was my first time, and I still remember it. He had great hands – he was a saxophone player (like me).

There was also a time I got half-naked with a boyfriend in a river bed. About a year after the bus thing. Oh, and then the time I gave a guy I liked a blowjob behind a gas station a block away from campus during our lunch break.

And then it all got boring until about the age of 32.

Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself

I love John Brownstone’s puns.

I hate rollercoasters.

I watched the movie Secretary twice before I figured out it was about BDSM.

Complete the sentence: I want..

What I want when I want it. (Impatient and goal-oriented…that’s me.)
