Sex Writing

The Smutty Smuttiness I’ve Been Reading Lately

I have started immersing myself more and more into the world of sex, kink, and porn. Not, as some of you might hope, in an erotic way (I know, I know, I wish it could be different, too). I’m working towards multiple goals at once – vanilla writer (check that one off the list, done!), erotic author with a few book sales (getting there), and a writer for the adult industry (I’m the little engine that could). Because of this, I’m exposing myself (/giggles, I know, I know) to more blogs, more news, more information, just…more.

When I should be giving you a testimonial about BDSM, Dominance, and submission, I find myself wanting to share with you the things I’ve found – that affected me in some way.

No, I’m not giving up talking about D/s and my life with John Brownstone. Actually, depending on when you read this, I’m either getting ready for or am already at the private, invitation-only, BDSM party we were invited to – or I’m recovering from it. Yes, there will DEFINITELY be a blog post about it.

But today, something a little different…

I totally squeed all over the internet the other day when I discovered that one of my friends, Nikki Blue of Vagina Antics, is featured as the Sex Blogger of the Month over at Kinkly. There were boob smooshes, twirling, squeeing, and all kinds of amazing things. I’ve sent you to Vagina Antics before (go now, if you haven’t already found them)…they experience and write about kink in a way that makes me feel like a novice. They’re my kinky heroes. I want to be like them when I grow up! Actually, I just want to pet their hair and say warm vagina a lot in their presence.

As Katie Butterfly so succinctly pointed out to me on Twitter, the UK just banned her whole sex life from being depicted in porn this week. Her sex life, mine, and a lot of other people’s. It’s not the acts that are banned, but that the adult industry can’t depict them in video porn. As the article points out, the ban seems to affect women’s pleasure more than the pleasure of men.

It’s easy to forget, in the search for equality for all, as a feminist, that sexism affects men as well as women. The words are different, the effects are different, but they’re still real. Thankfully, Laci Green shined a bit of perspective on it all. I’m raising two boys over here, not just to respect women but to feel comfortable being who they are – whatever that might look like.

And last, but definitely not least, one of my favorite finds of the week. Someone managed to list what people don’t know about vaginas and keep it to only 10 things. Somehow, I have a feeling that’s a wildly inaccurate number, but good for them for showing restraint. The 1001+ things you don’t know about vaginas might not have been as fun to read.

Ok, that’s it for me. If I come across as more of a sexual deviant over time, it’s partly the fault of John Brownstone for corrupting me (/giggles) and mostly to blame on all the smutty-smuttiness I’ve been reading lately.
