Sex Writing

Shameless #Promotion and Guest #Blogging

Now that I’ve immersed myself in the business of writing (instead of just the art and pleasure), I’m taking good ideas wherever I find them. And I’m committing myself to helping other writers get their name and product out there.

If I get enough response, I will shamelessly promote fellow authors on Thursdays. Check out the first shameless promotion here. Want to find out how to request a shameless promotion? Go here. Be warned, if I have a week with no promotions, I’ll promote myself – because I can. /giggles (Did I just…? Yes, I just giggled in my own blog.)

I’m also looking for guest bloggers. You don’t have to be promoting or selling something. Maybe you just want to get your name out to more readers. That’s cool, too! In a perfect world, we’ll do a guest blog swap, but that’s not a requirement. And, it can be content you’ve already written or something brand new. Just remember, I focus on erotica and sexual fantasies around here – know the audience, people, know the audience.

Guest blog posts will be featured on Sundays. Want to be a guest blogger for A Sexual Being? Click here!

Something Nate asked in his interview questions about the sex blogging/writing community has stuck with me. We are a community – if we choose to be. I won’t get anywhere I want in my budding writing career without help from others – and the reverse is true. We have to support one another as much as possible. This is my attempt to do just that.

If you follow me on Twitter (@KaylaLords), you’ll see that I retweet other writers posts advertising their books. It’s my small effort to support them. I can’t buy every book, but I can let other people know they’re out there.

And frankly, if we stick together and support one another, we are more powerful as a force than independently. There is a movement on Facebook to do away with BDSM-themed pages by people who don’t understand BDSM. Google is no longer allowing adult-themed blogs with ads or that make money (I take that to mean, those bloggers who sell their books, too). What makes us think that an attempt won’t be made on WordPress, Twitter, or Tumblr? If we can show that we aren’t miscreants, sexual deviants, or sickos, and if we can show that we’re a force to be reckoned with, we become that much harder to silence.

So this is my attempt to join the community or, if it doesn’t exist, build the damn thing. I invite you to join me.

  • The working together is something that I have been speaking about for several months now when WordPress’s Mature Flag was revealed to me. I also signed the petition to get Facebook to rethink their BDSM page policy. I would like to see more done as a group as a community. I will be interested to see what response you get and will gladly work with you to build such a community.

Will you just be promoting authors of books, ebooks, and the like or can non-published (self published or otherwise) bloggers/writers get some promotion love? Do you need a copy of their/my work?

    • I’ll be interested to see where this goes (if anywhere), too.

And yes, I’ll show non-published bloggers and writers promotional love. I don’t need a copy of the work (physical) but you can always share electronic versions if you want. 🙂
