Keeping It Kinky While We’re Apart #podcast

On March 1, I jumped in the cutest rental car I've ever had, drove for nearly 10 hours (with only a few stops), left John Brownstone and the kids at home, and came to be with my mom while she has surgery and to help in the first few days of her recovery.

She's going to be fine, and I'm happy to have the opportunity to be here with her. But damn, I wish I didn't have to come alone. He's my rock when my family gets crazy. He's the one who keeps me on an even keel when I try to do too much (working, blogging, and taking care of my mom is more than I thought it would be). He's also the person I snuggle up to each night - a warm, calming center in a sometimes stormy life.

So yeah, I'm glad to be here, but I miss him like hell. For us, we reverted to old ways - the things that got us through the separation when we were still a long distance couple. It's not as fun, but it's better than nothing.

This week's podcast is short and simple - a look at how we handle the distance, even though we know it's only temporary.

From the show:

  • John and Kayla are separated for a week, so they're reverting back to their long distance days to stay connected.
  • Scheduled phone calls
  • Constant texting - and sexting.
  • Creating different routines or modifying the existing ones.
  • Asking permission for treats.
  • Special assigned tasks.

  • SB and I did the long distance thing for several years, seeing each other just every few months. It is SO hard. We did many of the same things, like every Sunday night before I went to bed, I’d send him a pic to start of his work week with a smile, instead of the usual Monday blues. In the end it’s worth it, but it’s not easy.

    • I’m home…a stressed out wreck, but I’m good. My mom is well on the road to recovery so yay for that. It was nice to see how excited EVERYONE was to have me home. JB jumped up and down for joy (literally) and my boys couldn’t stop smiling. Maybe I should leave more often, lol.
