A Good Dirty Woman is Gone – and She Will Be Missed

My heart is heavy right now. There’s a physical ache in the center of my chest.

A good woman (with a dirty mind), one of the most sex-positive people I know, and friend, Bobbie Morgan died recently. I heard it first from Anna’s blog. John Brownstone jumped online to confirm (damn you, Facebook gods for kicking me off). I had to see the announcement and confirmation that this wasn’t a cruel joke for myself.

Of course, Bobbie Morgan wasn’t her real name. And like many of us in this community, our friendship was based on a love of the written sexy word and a willingness to chat through email, social media, and our own blogs. I never did get the chance to meet her in person, but I wanted to. I have a feeling there would have been a lot of laughter between us in person.

She wasn’t just positive about sex. She was a champion for sex bloggers everywhere. This is a woman who sent me writing work when she had a hundred and one other people she could think of. This is a woman who encouraged me when I wondered if I was on the right track. This is a woman who reminded me that the work I do has value and meaning in the world. And in return, I tried to be at least half as good to her as she was to me.

If you never read Bobbie Morgan’s brand of sex-positivity, go to her site and read what you can while you can. (Who knows if anyone will know enough to shut down her site or if it will languish for years…) She’ll teach you something and probably turn you on, all at the same time.

A Good Woman’s Dirty Mind

I’ll miss you and your brand of sex education, Bobbie.

  • This is very sad news indeed, Kayla. I did not know Bobby personally, but I had become acquainted with her via Twitter and Facebook and what a dynamo! She will be missed by the entire community.

  • Oh no…. This is indeed sad news, I’m not on WP much anymore but I have read her blog in the past. Thank you for sharing the news Kayla.

    • SSir pulled up the thread for me to see Friday morning. It wasn’t until someone I know is real and decent posted that they confirmed it that I was willing to believe it. 🙁

  • I have contacted GoDaddy, who hosts A Good Woman’s Dirty Mind, so that I can manage it. Once that happens (about 5 days, I think), I’ll post an obituary so everyone knows what’s going on. I wrote her eulogy for the service yesterday (11/22/15). It’s at

I deeply appreciate everyone’s condolences. Bobbie was a very special lady–and the love of my life.

    • ((((HUGS)))) I am so sorry for your loss, Parrot. You were in my thoughts a lot when I first found out. I can’t imagine what you must be going through.

Bobbie was a special woman, and I’m proud to have had her friendship even for the short time I did.

If there’s anything John or I can ever do, please don’t hesitate to ask. (((HUGS)))

  • Am in shock, just learnt from @wqbelle who sent me a tweet. I am lost for words because she was such a positive person and influence. She was so interested in our struggles for sexual rights here in Lagos, Nigeria. She encouraged our participation in the annual #adultsexedmonth and we took out an advert. This is sad for the work she has been doing and her family. I hope they have the strength to bare the loss.

    • I had the same thought, hoping they find the strength. I’m not surprised to hear that she reached out across oceans and continents in the name of sexual education and freedom. She was an amazing woman.
